I'm in a 35 foot non cdl box van with a dual sleeper...they're about to put my cdl to use tho and get me in an 18 wheeler..should be next week..I'm not sure how the 18 wheelers run at my job but maybe pup trailers on 6 day runs or bumping docks in San Diego at the port with a 53 footer...either way my pay goes up! I heard pup trailers make more than San Diego does...it's a lot of work moving furniture. But I think it would be worth the pay increase...I'll get a helper and just drive once I go o/o..

So you worked for two weeks. Did all that manual labor and driving for less then a grand. Uhhhhh wow do you reallllly have to ask if you are being bent over. There has to be better jobs then that if you have a cdl. But maybe its the home time you like.

I did one (1) in home delivery of new furniture. Nope, never again. I have delivered and installed appliances, wood stoves, fireplace inserts, water heaters, furnaces, but no more furniture.

I wouldn't say he's getting the rub, if I understand right he's second mate on a straight truck and just getting started and getting some much need experience, when I first started I would have paid them to drive those big ole transfer trucks.

if you want to try doing O/O with a straight truck, see if they'll let you run for a couple weeks with a rental first. If you can make a little money with a weekly-rate rental, then you should be able to make OK money owning it. If you can't atleast make a paycheck with the rental, then it's not worth the hassle of owning your own truck. There are lots of little costs, suddenly EVERYTHING is your problem.
