You have to sit for 4 hours past appointment time to get detention. Granted you were on time. They tell you in orientation that it is two hours, but they don't tell you that there is a two hour window for unloading/loading.

    GenArcher and Smokey5366 Thank this.

I did got out of reefers all together, run 3000 miles a week and home every weekend, I am happier than a pig in slop, and I can count on one hand the number of hours I sit and wait during the week.

I'm honestly glad to hear it Tennessee. I am a firm believer that if what you're doing isn't working, its time for a change. I think we all fit somewhere, we just have to find that place. I don't know yet if this is finally what I've been looking for, since this is the honeymoon faze. I really hope it is for me. Dry van freight is more plentiful, and usually less wait time. The downside is that it pays less so most companies pay less that haul it, or they try to over work their drivers to make a profit. I had 3 trucks and pulled dry freight and what I had to sacrifice was maintenance, which ended up being even more costly. I'm less concerned with getting 3000 miles per week, and more interested in making money, but not killing myself to do so. Granted, I'm single with no kids, so I don't have much overhead. But life is all about the choices you make, right?

Stay on them. Document for yourself the date and times of arrival and empty/loaded. That way you have something for yourself to reference against your pay stub.

    Smokey5366 Thanks this.

Thought being a drop and hook I'd be in and out. Haven't even started loading it yet and I was told it was done

After two hours of sitting past your appointment time sends in a msg asking for detention because you are being delayed on load/unloading on load # ******. Then make sure to let your FM know the next day if it is after business hours.
