Actually the fuse IS doin it’s job....blowing a circuit before more damage is done
There is definitely a short somewhere in that circuit
The unfortunate part is the only way to find
it is to run doen(thru) the entire circuit
It’s time consuming and can be a pita...

They put enough bulb sockets in the harness to light up a full dash worth of gauges. If you don't use them all they can float around behind the dash and short out on something. Something would have to be small enough to get into the socket but it can happen
IIRC the dash light wires are green. Should make it easier to trace -
Assuming there is literally no other issue like mentioned, there are mini self resetting circuit breakers made for vehicle fuse boxes. Mainly made to keep power flowing if needed to track down an issue.
I had a similar problem with the dash in my 2016 t680. Occasionally when I turned the key to start the engine a fuse would blow, but never any other time. I could replace the fuse after the engine was started and it would be fine even if I left the engine running for over a week with a daily 10 hours of driving.
Got one of those small circuit breaker fuses. It's been over 2 years and no other dash issues, fires, or any burning smell.Last edited: Nov 1, 2022
