You've got to be over 25 to drive for the mainstream carriers.
*to everyone else
Did you guys even read the OP? He had a vehicle merge into his lane with him already there. On the 2nd, he ran over some debris and blew a tire. Saying he'll never drive is quite extreme, considering these accidents are quite minor, and very common. Both accidents would be considered non-preventable in this industry. You cannot avoid stupidity no matter how good of a driver you are.
Future career or dead end.

oh my gosh guys calm down. hey man listen if just apply to these major carriers who will train you and you can pay them back over 1 year. its better that way. you can many companies, swift, cr england, etc. dont let all these guys put you down like this. you will see lots of truckers are jerks on the road but some are nice. try to go to school with a major carrier and go from there.

most companies wont hire you after 3 yrs of accident but they are companies you really wouldnt want to work for. After 7 yrs most companies wont say much keep your license clean. Also its hard to get a job at a young age after 25 most insurance are ok with its really not the companies but their insurances that wont approve you. At my company drivers have got the job but insurance wont approve them with experience.

Now, add in the fact this kid has two accidents. Don't look good, half the companies now won't hire an old guy with 32 years, without 3 years recent experience... And this kid has none... Insurance companies would not even cover you till you were at least 25 years old in the old days , now they weigh you in one hand and your record and costs in the other hand.... -

It can be either a dead end or a career. Its all how you look at it. If you, or anyone for that matter, gets into trucking and do the minimum there is to the job, ie dont push for more loads, turn down loads, stay sitting at truck stops or terminals after your 10 hour break, live from week to week with regards to your pay check then spend it all on nothing but the here and now its a dead end. If you take charge of your career and push for more loads, accept what you can safely do, drive the max that your body can take a day, park and then 10 hours later do it all again, keep yourself in good shape, get your checks, spend what you have to on bills and put some away for the future and retirement it can be a career. Just make sure you have the correct mindset coming in, research, study, and then research and study some more until you understand what it takes to be a truck driver. I heard coming in that the age was 25 for insurance and if it is dont take it as a bad thing. That gives you more time to get finances in order save and learn all you can until you are able to put your best foot forward and when you do get out here you will be a well prepared student- trainee for a company. Do your best, stay safe and watch out for your regular license and your CDL once you get it. Do not be detoured. Do your best always cause if you do it the right way the first time you wont have to worry about starting over and you will be set for life, you and your family. Good luck, wish you the best.
