I'm sure others have better info, and mine is meaningless for heavy haul.
A cousin runs a daycab Cascadia linehaul for Saia. Heavily sedated DD engines. He says on the interstate at 68mph he's just over 1k RPM, and his fuel mileage averages 7.3
I run 80k most everywhere, never let out of it running 75-80mph almost constantly at 1800, averaging 5.6.
FWIW, just info
For me, the added maintenance and ridiculous repair costs would never make it worthwhile

Down speeding is just snake oil. That’s how they achieve the fuel mileage numbers. But it’s at the cost of engine life. Lugging is lugging. And riding around at a 1,000 rpm is lugging.TripleSix, wore out, High Stepper and 17 others Thank this. -

And they are required to have a large bottom end to handle increased pressures due to lugging

Their is guy on Facebook Joe Morrow and he likes the Volvo engine and talk how the Volvo engine block and lower end are built bigger and stronger them any on other engine. He gets 10 MPG I think hauling 80k with his special specs that Volvo copy and now sell. It might not be the setup for heavy haul.
If you’re looking to future truck, have you seen Edison Motors. They are building extreme heavy haul truck. They are building them to last 20+ years and easily repairable. They are diesel electric trucks using Scania engines as generator to power the electric drive axles. They are building off road trucks that can handle 65 tons. They are just now building their first 10 trucks. So mass production is still several years away. They are being built by a trucker for truckers. No plastic parts on these trucks. They have lots of videos people can watch.
Feedman, OLDSKOOLERnWV, Oxbow and 5 others Thank this.
