I think Western Star also sells them. I'm not sure if there are a lot of hoops you have to jump through to sell them. I think someone said KW just said they're not in the business to sell unfinished trucks. A KW salesman told me "there wasn't any money in selling gliders" which I think is BS. If your not making money selling a product then your prices are too cheap. While talking to a Pete salesman he mentioned one customer had all he could stand with his new 2011 ISX so he yanked it out and put a 6NZ in it's place. Personally I would have either sold the truck or had the ISX "fixed" but he must have really liked it to spend that kind of cash. I think a 6NZ without a core is probably $25-30K plus the truck wiring harness and install costs.

I was going to order a new truck but ended up ordering a trailer instead. Going to wait until spring to see what comes out. Keeping my fingers crossed that KW decides offers a glider, Cat comes back with a vengeance or the budget issues forces the government to close the EPA.

I would like to see a Kw glider also, but local Kw dealer claims they have some fiber optic style wiring in cab now that older motors can't communicate with. That's why you can pull gauge out and put any place in dash and replug into socket and it will work properly. If that is true, they are missing some good sales chasing a little technology.

They are just making up excuses. Peterbilt uses the same wiring and the same gauges with a different bezel. Any of the electronic engines will work with them.

So if I had a pete with a isx and i wanted to swap a c-15 in, it's all plug and play? sounds too easy????
I have a 09 389 glider that is pre-wired for an ISX, much easier to find a cat to put in,but I didn't think it would be a drop in deal -
Schneider is currently having gliders built. If you see a company Freightliner Columbia, its a glider.
-
Its my understanding they are plug and play. I bought a new 389 glider in 08 and was told I could have a Cummins, Cat, or a Detroit. Mine has a 550 Cat and they put a Detroit in a twin to my truck.
-
You have to order the glider with the correct wiring harness. The ones here were ordered for a 70 pin cat.

i dont see what the problemis, its as simple as i want to buy a truck from you but you can keep the engine because i have my own!
