I looked at the ad and I didn't see that it was under any warranty. It said "Don't forget to ask about o, ut extended warranties" (That's their typo not mine)You have to read everything. I'd ask the dealer where the truck came from and call the KW dealers and Cat shops in the area. Better yet go look at the truck and see if you can still read the previous company name, MC, DOT number or if the annual inspection sticker is on the truck. Call the previous owner and see what they are willing to tell you since they don't have anything to loose. The more information you have the better decision you can make. I think the truck is a little overpriced just looking at the ad. The mileage is decent for a 9 year old truck if it's accurate and matches the ECM. NEVER make a decision based on emotion since it's going to be a bad one. Walk away from it and look at other trucks. Do a LOT of looking and hopefully you and your Pop will start out on a firm footing with a decent truck.

One rig dig the vin#. Two oil sample it. Three notice the high mounted lights and strobe light mounts on the sleeper. Possible heavy haul truck.

For that price, no way. Over a million miles, like some one eels said looks like it was in hevey hual, at that price you can get a truck that is lower on miles. Now why do you want the w9? Is it just for looks? If your pulling a dry van or refer I would just go out a buy a 660 or a fraught shaker. Are you going to be driving team? Not a lot of room in the w9 for teams. But if your going to go out and pay 40k on a truck keep looking there bigger and better rigs out there

This truck is no good for a dry van or a reefer since it hasn't an airdam/airfoil that will be as high as the trailer. 2.5 feet above your sleeper will catch a lot of wind and kill your fuel mileage. A cat will have horrible fuel mileage to begin with. If this truck has an recent engine rebuild, rebuilt rears and tranny then 30k is a decent price. If nothing has been rebuilt, then it's nowhere near worth 35k that they're asking.
Having said that, I own a 2000 Kenworth W900 which has had a lot of work recently, 1,290,000 miles and it's the best truck I've ever owned. We're still running it but suffering a bit because I sold my stepdeck last year when open freight fell on its face. I get 1.1-1.5 miles per gallon better pulling a step, compared to a dry van. I recently drove a freightliner cascadia, brand new. It's a design nightmare, was all over the road and is a piece of #### right off the showroom floor.
Buy a Peterbilt, or a Kenworth if you can, but it's a buyer's market. Keep looking diligently and you'll find the right deal.
A better idea altogether is to heed this warning: Friends don't let friends drive trucks". There's no money in trucking anymore. Go rob banks before they rob you.

That is a 5 MPG truck. It has an ACERT Cat in it, which are notorious for getting poor fuel mileage. I would check to see if it has had an inframe done. If they claim it has, demand to see documentation. Make sure to have it independently inspected by a trusted mechanic. A dyno test would even be better.

I sold an 05 W900L in December with 1.3 million on it for $45,000. But it had 300,000 on an inframe, with 1 year of warranty from Cat left on it.

We want a Kenworth or Peterbilt for the name, looks, and resale value. My pop told me yesterday that he wants to go ahead and get a truck with lower miles, newer, and has a legitiment warranty. Of course we know that is way on up there in price, but when we get ready to sell it it'll have resale value. Now if we bought the one I posted in this thread, it'll be worth nothing in a year or two. We like Quality Truck Sales out in Springfield, Missouri since most of their trucks they got have recent overhauls with warranty on all replaced parts. We're just roaming TP most nights lol.
