Is it possible for a truck driver to become a career company driver for Werner and make a decent living at it? Please advise.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
lmao, thank you I just had my laugh for the day.Not with Werner you won't.Even the mechanics are unhappy with their pay.Somethings in trucking especially with Werner never change and that's the low pay and low miles.Werner like many mega carriers have more drivers then freight which would explain the low pay and low miles.

Wow thats low. Prime at least starts you off at .36 cpm after training, where you are paid 600.00 a week during your training, thats after you get your CDL.

It looks as though that there is no longer a shortage of either experienced truck drivers or beginner truck drivers. If anything, it looks as though there may be a SURPLUS of truck drivers at all levels.

I think for some people they dont have a choice either they get on board with a crappy company or stay stuck in the lil town America forgot about. I would hop on with Werner if that was my closest easiest choice pay dues like we all have at some point of our career and get the heck out and slowly climb the ladder. If you are driven and got ur mind set handle it. Good luck.

Werner started me out at 24CPM and I had 6 mo experience at the time. At the end of 2011. And if they tell you about fuel bonuses forgettabowdit. Unreachable. Basically I went to them for the pet policy. Although I ultimately never used the pet policy. Got no miles either. At no time was I offered a dedicated account. I wasnt there long though. I've learned to accept what recruiters say with a boulder of salt.

What a myth. This is exactly the reason mega-carriers continue to flourish. Each week they have thousands of sheep beating down their door because they are not ambitious enough to find companies that will hire new drivers at a decent wage.
Lots of decent companies are out there that will hire a new driver. The problem is that they don't always have websites or advertise for drivers. You have to turn off the computer and get your butt off the couch to find them.
When a new driver puts more thought into their last dinner order than they do a prospective employer it is no surprise when they find themselves in an unfavorable situation.Hondaaccord9093 and mje Thank this. -
Dollar General pays $16 per stop and $39 for every trailer that you unload. Your 14 will run out long before your 11 does.

You want 48 state running, look at National Carriers. Their ad says 6 mos. experience, but that isn't carved in stone. They don't actively recruit from schools, but do occassionally hire new CDL grads.
mje Thanks this.
