You mistakenly assume that all of Swift's drivers need them. We have many more capable and safe drivers than you think. When you have 16,000 drivers the number of ones that are not seasoned is proportionately higher than a company with a lesser amount of drivers.

I have in the past used a spotter when doing a blind side back around a corner. Most of the time I just get out and look when I feel the need to. But if you want me to come and spot for you, I'll be happy to, but I'm not cheap!

 

Read my post just before yours. I know the good drivers get the same bad rap as the "wish they could".

 

The sending of the macro is no big deal, it takes a few seconds, and like Stranger posted it is a good reminder for those that need it.

Some people need a smack up side the head to help remember, and not just newbies. I've teamed with so called "vets"so bad that when I got back, I told dispatch I would stay home before risking my life again with such drivers. Time behind the wheel doesn't always make a good driver.

 

I just put app in for Swift on Friday. Are you telling me that everytime I back up I have to send them a message that I got out and looked.

you're supposed to, also supposed to toot the city horn while backing, but I'll admit to not doing that all the time. I wouldn't even think about that at 2 in the morning at a truck stop.

Listen, it all stems from an incident a few months ago when a rookie went to back under a trailer and a dock worker walked between the truck and trailer and got pinned, crushed and killed.
