Used to be a local Class A gig was the goal. Now? Not so much. You can get a local gig as a rookie Class A, just don't expect much in the way of pay, benefits, or even W-2 jobs. Then again, YOU would probably be sent to NYC a lot. As a rookie, do ya REALLY wanna do that? Or Buffalo....in winter. You might even get to blindside dock with a sleeper truck every single day (some locals do use sleepers, for some odd reason). FUN!!

Even as a rookie, you can do whatever you want with that CDL A. The only real difference is with whom. There are small companies with a handful of rigs who might take you on without much hassle.

  Commercial driving experience a plus but not required.
