I have to agree with other posta with this switch on you don't know where you are. As long as you stay below 28.000 MHZit should not be
a problem how ever you may not have anyone to talk too either.

Just FYI, The new Generals don't have a 10khz switch anymore. I know because I own one.
-
I know this, but I did not relay that info to the OP. Thanks for clearing it up.
-
That's true. I just sold my new one I bought last year....replaced with a dimmer switch. Probably good info for the OP considering this radio lol.
-
Out of curiosity . Why not a connex 3300?
Edit don't answer that. It didn't register what he was already comparing. -
Yeah 10k missing on that one too, otherwise a viable choice!
-
Thanks for all the info guys, as far as the 10 meter stuff, I never knew that it was possible to hit ham frequencies. I actually have a ham license, the volunteer fire department I am in thought it would be useful, so actually having the license and improperly using frequencies makes things worse. The reason I have my choices narrowed down to a general lee and a 99 is because a guy I work with has them for sale, its an older general lee and obviously an older 99. He wants $75 for the general and $100 for the 99

They sure do act like they do,well a "few" do
The hero's are the no life hermits that troll for stuff to snitch on.
Many in the Tx,OK,Ar,La area will openly have nothing to do with
them.
One got ripped pretty good night for last on the very topic

Great deal on both radios if you ask me!
And yes, if you pay attention to the Galaxy on the frew. display, you'll notice the "F" band will get up past 28.000 mHz. Same on the general, just unsure of which band it is.
