I think reviving an old radio is like reviving an old car. You don't do it to save money. You do it for the prestige. If it cost 100,000 to restore a 69 Challenger and a new one can be bought for 50 of course buying new makes sense. But you still won't have that cool old '69 challenger. It depends on what your goal is.

More I think about it may be I can fix it my self as the internals look ok and it does work. Just me and soldering irons dont get along so well as a couple knobs need reattached, but what's the worst that can happen, burn down the garage?
Just l like older radios, for no particular reason. Current setup is just a cobra 148 I bought back in the late 80s and it still works fine so don't see swapping out anytime soon, but who knows.Timin770 and Slowmover1 Thank this. -
