    ...and secure the truck to something in case of a malfunction. That's what's meant by "using your head" here. It's a matter of common sense and some natural engineering.

    I doubt he is...he's just reassuring the fact that if you do things RIGHT, with some THOUGHT, with some BRAINS...then you can do it safely as well. If you're going to put the truck up on two stumps with no way to secure it, headed for the garage wall, jump in and grab every gear and reach maximum speed ...well then yes, you're an idiot.
