My 770 acted up last weekend going through Reno like it was suffering wild gps signal bounce like going through a canyon. It then started thinking I was on a road that I wasn’t. Rebooted it and it was fine. Otherwise, it routes a bit better than my old Garmin except slower to route.
Are you sure it’s not routing around imaginary closures?

No, that's not the issue. Last week it sent me on an alternate route then got confused and sent me back. It also tried to warn me off the blue grass parkway with a 20 ton weight limit. Turns out it was for box trucks. The tech today said he is swamped with calls from truckers. The techs didn't know until yesterday when they got a company email yelling them the calls were probably right. They are taking the corrections you call in to compare with their own problems.

Nope. My 770 is not having any such problems.

You just haven't hit the right scenario yet.

I would do three things for the time being and see if there is any improvement.
- Disable the "Foursquare Map" (mine has this "feature" that I will never use)
- Turn off any wifi and/or bluetooth connectivity (I'm not having any issues running bluetooth data on mine other than it sometimes picking up false traffic or construction issues, so I just know when to ignore it) But I know this can lead to problems in some areas that have a lot of false or incorrect data being picked up from the provider
- Keep map detail to Medium or Low
HD_Renegade Thanks this. -
I’m glad I recently bought the 770 instead of the 780.

Unfortunately, same program. The update was to bring the 770 up to 780 map specs. The 780 was released with the April update already installed.

I get that garmin seems to be admitting there is something wrong. My new 770 is working for about 6 weeks now with no issues except the one mentioned earlier when it thought it was somewhere it wasn’t and a reboot fixed that. I’ve applied 2 software updates and one map update.
One thing of note. I keep mine high under the overhead and is shaded. I wonder if these new units are susceptible to heat degradation at the chip level? Does it act up at night or when the sun is not beating down directly on it?Last edited: Aug 4, 2018

It doesn't act up, it just routes wrong. Acts perfectly normal, then directs you to someplace you really shouldn't be. It tries to take shortcuts a truck shouldn't. After that Friday mess I turned on Waze and got better directions. I don't know where you drive, but in heavily populated areas like Atlanta it's scary. Can't trust it. I do pair it with my phone and traffic is always accurate. I don't know why you can't understand there is a problem. You can't even update now because the data is corrupted.
