I've had the RM TND 740 since the day I started driving. They have a new version of that model as of last year. I've had a lot of problems with it. Software glitches and the hardware is complete junk, but when it works it's my favorite. It freezes up, resets while I'm driving, and sometimes it takes a half hour just to get it to turn on. I'm on my 4th power cord because they're made so cheap. But I tried the Garmin for a month while my RM was being repaired and I couldn't stand it. While the Garmin hardware is built much more solid than the RM, the software isn't nearly as user friendly as the RM. My old version get software and map updates when I connect it to my computer. The newer version downloads them automatically. Everything I want to see is on the RM screen like posted speed limits, curve/hill warnings, approaching weigh station, truck stops, Walmarts, restaurants, just about everything I need. What I like best is that it tells me how long until my destination, right down to the minute.

I drove a brand new T680 last year for a couple weeks and it had the built in GPS with the touch screen built into the dash. I was surprised that it worked pretty well for a Kenworth OEM piece of equipment.

I got the TND 720 also and it works great when it works but crashes frequently when in complicated locations.
Also, what idiot thought it was a good idea to make the reset button impossible to access while driving!?

You can build a route and save it under a mult stop trip. You just have to save it and start it from that specific place Multi stop trips should be at the bottom left of the screen where you select your destination. I'd like to be more specific but my 740 is down right now I found your post while doing research on whether I want to try a Garmin.

You can save a mult stop trip for later use. This video should be enough to show you how

I no my way around boston quite well. I discovered the same thing about rerouting you. However you can eliminate that problem by easily by just adjusting your settings.

I don’t use gps. I just get off of the highway and ask the first person I see for directions.

I like my RM 740. It’s just a basic tool anyway, but it isn’t as retarded as Garmin was. It always figures out what route I really want fairly quickly

I only gave mine 2 weeks.

The last straw was when i passed up the turn for the 17. It was dark and the sign was around the bend. Rand didn't say anything. It just directed me in to town. And literally ran me around circles. Had to use google to get me out of there.

This was when i first started playing with gps. At that time i figured gps should know where it's going. Specially since it's a rand. Maker of the map atlas. Rand had no clue. Google knew it all.

I switched to copilot. Never had a problem for being the cheapest gps available. Very seldom needed that atlas. Course, I also had the parameters set.
