Thanks for all the info. I'm going to take a look at garner for sure now. I've been out of school now for a few months, doing little shuttle runs and working the dock for my current company. I was wondering about the pre trip for the hiring test. What all does it involve? I haven't done a real pretrip while working for my company, just checked lights and fluids. And the pretrip I learned in school was just saying an hours worth of info in 30 min, can't say I really learned what I was doing. I just don't want to how up to any company and look like an idiot.

just wanted to keep this thread alive. going to start school with TrainCo Feb 9th. they had me send out a few applications already and Garner was one that got back to me. Spoke to Scott, i liked his pitch and his honestly. he does come across as someone who doesn't want someone making a rash decision to join them if they aren't 100% sure. they seem to want to add members to a family, not a number in the book. he offered me a spot even before starting class. though obviously, i will still need to go in and meet with him. Then assuming i decide going there is my choice, pass the little driving test etc. and their homebase in Findlay is only a 45 minute drive down I-75 for me.

Was originally looking at Werner but being seeing quite a few mixed reviews about working for them, especially as a rookie driver.

What is the starting pay there? For some reason it won't show that on their website. I don't know why it used to.

no experience/rookies, it's .38 cpm plus up to .02 cpm performance & safety bonus. OTR caps at .48 CPM + safety performance bonus, 2100-2500 miles average OTR/Regional. which is what im interested in. i believe he said it's 7 days on with 34-48 hours off.

i got the pay figures from a facebook post on their page that dates to september. and on the phone he said ".40 cpm" but i just assumed that includes the .02 cpm mentioned on the website included in the total. still not bad starting pay from what i hear for rookies with no experience. lots of companies hiring rookies straight out of school i hear often pay .28 cpm. i've heard pretty good things about Garner so far. Though, my endorsements and Hazmat will pretty much be worthless there. the 100% no touch freight sounds nice anyways

.38 for starting new drivers sounds good. When I was able to see it on the website many months ago it was .30 cents a mile which wasn't very good. Thanks for the info anything else you can add is welcome as their website is kinda spotty.

ive seen several companies raising pay for drivers over the last year or so. Im not sure there is much else i can add as of yet. other than what people have already posted here. they just recently bought a bunch of brand new trailers and new tractors, mostly automatics. i haven't really seen much in the way of negative reviews about them. when i spoke with Scott on the phone, he gave me his basic pitch but added he usually suggest students interview with at least 3-5 places before making a decision. he stressed that he didn't want to bring anyone and everyone board if possible, he wanted to find people that 100% wanted to be there and hopefully might be planning to stick around for awhile.

hard to say yet how they actually treat the rookies. he told me to attend a couple weeks of classes first and talk to people and learn what i can about different companies and who offers what, then if i am still interested, give him a call and set up a time to stop by the terminal and meet. Sounds like a solid guy. though as a recruiter, that's his job. still. i liked what he had to say. ill know more and hopefully have something fresh to add once i go in for a sit down with him in about 6 weeks.

    GirlsDriveToo,

Not sure if you are still on here, but how do they pay and what is their minimum that you were talking about?

@Nick2001 new drivers start at .38 cpm + up to .02 cpm performance/safety bonus. tops out at .48 cpm + the bonus for regional/otr. the 4on/4off, you top out at .43 cpm + bonus minimum 600-700 a week(gross, not take home)
