GDT, do their trucks have apus, fridge, inverter, or anything worth noting? Speed?
Can you drive a few weeks, and go home for more than two days? -
Trucks have Inverters, and bunk heaters or optimized idle. Some have the electric coolers( the newest ones.) Most of the trucks are 2years old or newer. Speed is 65 on the cruise, 62 on the pedal. Both standard transmission and automatics. Mostly newer trailers with airslide tandems. Kingpin release from inside the tractor, Bluetooth. Some have back massagers in the driver seat, some have heated/cooled driver seats.
Garner takes care of their equipment and expect you to do the same. Any problems just call the shop, they will talk you through it and help you figure out what to do.Lonesome, Tennesseahawk and sixgun911 Thank this. -
I have been posting on here for 3 years about Garner. I have never received a recruiting bonus (a week's paid vacation) for this! LOL! I know drivers have read my posts and have ended up at Garner but I guess that doesn't count. I decided to post about Garner because there wasn't any information about them to be found online. My time with them may come to an end someday, but I STILL think they are a good company.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Ok so I have a question, I have 33 years over the road, been an x Owner Operator, 2.5 million miles safe driving.. Hear is the problem I keep facing, I stopped Trucking for 5 years and drove an Executive Bus. I have been back in a Truck for 3 months mostly local stuff. Will I qualify to work at Garner ? Trying to reach a recruiter is next to impossible !!!! 2 Companies said I could go through there Driving school,, SAY WHAT???? I can teach there instructor to drive most likely lol
-
I would think you would, but I am not a recruiter. You may need to run with a trainer for a short time to train on logs, etc. But most likely just a week or two. Call and talk to Nathan or Scott. Best way to find out is to fill out an application on their website. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply, I have called 2 times and have yet to get Scott or anyone to call me back, Ill try one more time then Ill give up and move on.. They sound like a decent place to work with decent equipment.. anyway.. Thanks so much for answering back

Did you get through to anyone, Wolf?

I am thinking about applying to Garner, but I live in Dayton. Do they have a yard around here somewhere? It just doesn't sound like much fun (or safe) to get back to Findlay after a full 14 and still have a 2 hour drive home.
I am just starting out so don't know how drivers generally deal with getting from home to their terminal and back again. -
Yep they were not to interested lol.. I guess a trainie is much better then a 3million miler with a clean record .. oh well, there loss not mine...
