Well they can't reject you due to age without the EEOC coming after them if you are otherwise qualified . So of course they will say it was something else.
If you have 6 yrs with current employer & 65, why the need to go elsewere anyway? Why would someone your age be looking to work trucking hrs at a new company at your age if you already got steady work?

Age discrimination is hard to prove, and employers know it.

At least they sent a rejection letter.. I'm "only" in my mid 50's.. but applying for jobs (since its almost all done via the internet) has led to me to never get any responses from the vast majorities of the applications filled out.

Your right 1st time in my life I ever received a rejection notice from a trucking company that's probably why they say there one of the top companies to drive for I have no hard feeling toward them I just don't like the fact that they talk about my work history I have a great work history just don't understand what they mean about my work history i ordered a copy of my day report to see what's on it anyhow I wish Garner the best and hope they remain one of the top companies in the USA to drive for

I know this by experience. Several years ago a company out of Ashland, Va was running ads on Craigslist, which they still do, I applied with 45 years experience, perfect record, I called them and the conversation convinced me that age was the reason they did not want me. I sent all the information to the EEOC, after several months I received a letter stating they could not find any discrimination.
