Finally got my chance to get into cryo from my tanker background. I scored a M-F dayshift with an amazing start time (0630), union shop, 50-60 hours a week. It’s been great so far being off nights and getting home by 600 most nights. I love it.

The senior drivers have the easier runs and routes but I can’t complain about my route. I’m still young and can handle the workload. I’m a cylinder kicker which I guess you could say would be food service on the cryo side. Hard work.

Just looking for tips, stories, experiences and such. So far I love it. The benefits, pay, and start time outweigh the tough work of pushing around 3 cylinders on a dolly. Anyone do this type of work or know about it?

Know it’s an old thread but do you happen to still be doing it? How’s the actual work? Have a chance to work for Linde about 10 mins away from my house with a normal M-F schedule. Manager I interviewed almost seemed like he was trying to scare potential applicants with how hard the work is. Is it really that bad?

He was most likely just giving you the straight skinny..it's physical work but gets easier after you learn the job.
Always a chance to move on to another job with the company and they may train for a CDL class A if you don't possess one. Decent pay and benefits imho

Would you mind sharing some of your experience with me? I'm thinking about taking a cylinder job here locally and I'd like to hear the inside scoop on what a typical day is like.

Right on. Currently hauling gas which is easy and a good gig. Pay is low for a few years until I hit top pay but the issue is it’s a bit of a drive and most of my pay is going towards fuel costs and it’s a pretty rough schedule like most gas hauling jobs are.
