Probably a Gemini tanker. This has me wondering about the cost of cleaning up this mess.Glad there were no fatalities.
Anyway, I did some math: A Gemini tanker holds approximately 8600 gallons.
The California average price per gallon of gasoline is $5.84. If we multiply 5.84 times 8600 the product is 47,988.
I don't know, but I guess the hazmat clean up will cost $200,000. Another $80,000 for the heavy wrecker. So, somewhere around a half million for that wreck.mjd4277 Thanks this. -
Most fuel tankers hold 9200 gallons, but the Gemini tankers around here can hold 9,500.
And that gasoline was probably bought at rack price, which is lower than pump price. But with that said, rack price in California just might be north of $5 per gallon.Flat Earth Trucker and Deere hunter Thank this. -
8600 was probably a straight load of gas or maybe one compartment of diesel thrown in. I’ve seen Circle K trucks that can scale 9200 of gas and they go to extremes to get there.
Flat Earth Trucker and Deere hunter Thank this.
