Driving and planning going well. So far I am finding that I like the SAPP Bros TS the best. have been past but not to the one in PA twice.

Today we got "lucky" Originally we planned our trip different but the QC directions had us going I 80 to I81. So without the research available we figured we'd stop at Pittston to fuel. The last couple of hills felt strange. We had picked up a 26000 trailer and while we checked it out we were admittedly a little rushed.

The brakes looked a little light but doable. Well at pittston we needed trailer brakes. We prepared for the worst but the service guy got us in and out in an hour. He even fixed the reefer door that was having a hard time staying closed.

Yesterday I went to sleep after my shift but woke up after 4 hours not feeling well. Planned on going back to sleep after our shower break but just could not. My trainer reallly wanted to push this load. I knew I could push it but really felt I needed to rest for safety sake. I told him how I felt and that if I could slow us down by 5 hours and try for sleep I felt it would be best. He was 100% for this as he knew I had tried and said I did not look like I was feeling to well and safety first. Our original plan was to get this load to Maine by 5am Monday even though it is not due until Wed AM. But it is OK for monday am drop and hook and FM has a plan in hand if we make it by 8:00 am Monday.

Well with my sleep delay and the brake delay and the 4 flipped rigs (traffic) we are only 400 mile from the 90 and will be there at 06:00 monday.

I share this because planning allows for moments I call intervening variables and reduces stress and allows you to put saftey first. I got my sleep and it only cost us 3 hours though I slept for almost 6. Felt better and safe.

Better now we have been pushing hard and it caught up with me. That extra break hit the spot. Have a short home trip planned next week for my daughters 14th bday that'll help too thanks for the kind words.

 

Well I was so excited (ok overstatement) that our rout out of maine hade me going over the GW bridge. I missed the I91 turn so I missed that chance. Not a big deal and the other route was less congested.

Only bummer right now is we were hoping to get a longer run but I guess NE freight is slow so we have a 1 shifter to IN then we will see. Last time we had to dead head to IN so I guess that isn't so bad.
