So here are the basics on this truck, might as well spell it out.
Purchase price: 105k
52 week lease
202k miles
716 week - truck
162 week - maint.
My thing is, the truck is still under warranty, and this is not my forever truck. I only plan on leasing this truck for the year to test the waters before really jumping in. This way I keep the capital I have saved, and next year can pull the trigger on something with traditional financing for 60/72 months without risking my own assets (home, wife, etc) lol. If I dont like it, I just stick it out for the year. Cant do that with a bank.
Is this a decent deal through schnieder provided the condition of the truck is what they are stating? Or can I get them to do better?

Road to nowhere...that's hilarious...
sadly that's how I feel too...lol
sicksfeet Thanks this. -
no,the costs are the same regardless.
question though, in going through orientation at Charlotte, will your ICA be there too?GeekFink Thanks this. -
So that's $878 a week there.
I did a 3 year on a new Kenworth and it's $905 a week.
The difference between new and used trucks is barely anything when you factor in the maintenance account.
Like others have said.. it's better to go new. Don't know how badly the previous driver drove it and etc.
Just one extra break down with a used truck could mean no revenue for a week and your $1000+ in fixed costs. Never thought it was close to decision to go used with Schneider but that's just me.
One year lease is a good for all the reasons you said and more. Good luckGeekFink Thanks this. -
Technically yes... The megas are notorious for pulling stunts like this. "Come sign onto our company for dedicated walmart. Oh now that you're here we only have a spot open for dollar tree". It's the same thing with his lease truck

Nope.

I would think really hard about this truck.
Some of the warranty has already expired, mainly the electrical stuff.
Somewhere between 250k - 300k the dpf will need cleaned. This is considered maintenance and is not under warranty. Its expensive unless you do it yourself.
Trucks have maintenance cycles. 300k, 600k, 900k... And so on. You will most likely run into the beginning of this trucks first major cycle and maybe through most of it depending on the mileage you put on it. This is a potential disaster with down time and repair costs. A lot of truck buyers and lessees get into trouble from geitting into a truck right before it hits a maintenance cycle.
SFI does not keep maintenance records on the trucks. The lessee keeps their own records and their is no requirement they be provided to SFI. The trucks are inspected at time of return to SFI and anything that needs repaired is done at the lessee's expense.
You will not have the opportunity to take the truck to an outside shop for inspection prior to signing. Once you sign and pull it out of the OC, it's yours along with whatever problems may arise.
Your home terminnal, which is where your ICA will be, is wherever SNI assigns you. Doesn't matter where you pick up the truck. You will do orientation where the truck is located.
Good Luck with your decision.Home_on_wheels and GeekFink Thank this. -
Thank you for the responses guys. Definitely going to take all of this under consideration. I think I am going to have him find me something with a few less miles, or go new.

If your going Freightliner go new they make it easy to get into a new one. I believe it's 1k down and if you don't have the 1k maybe just maybe that's the sign you need to see is that you don't have any money and maybe should start when you do.
I'm not saying you have no money I read something about your reserve but I posted the statement as a blanket statement for those with no money.
It's not wise to get into this program with no money in your bank.Last edited: Oct 22, 2015
