Go new you wont be sorry.
If you have ANY problems you have a full warranty to take care of it.
Big piece of mind. -
I just became an IC 2 weeks ago, new 2016 Freightliner went to Charlotte, it was fine except for the food there lacks big time. For 1000.00 down you have zero worries. If you do the 3 year its zero down and after 18 months you can buy it out. You CAN NOT BUY IT CHEAPER FROM A DEALER!!! So far so good. A guy in our class had a used truck with 6000 miles on it...they have tons of used trucks..
Be Safe Out There

Something I learned in business a looong tiime ago. Lean from the experience of others. After seeing all of your replies, I hit the breaks, and did a quick revaluation of my situation. I called 2 freightliner dealerships, the diesel mechanic side of where I went to school, I even called our shop foreman at Crete in Lenoir City and asked all of them, what can I expect at 200k in this truck. I got excellent info and advice on everything from glitches and codes they have seen to the dpf filter mentioned in this post. However, the resounding theme was the same.
A Cascadia dd15 with 200k is just stretching its legs, and should be fine. As long as...It was properly maintained, and properly DRIVEN.....That is something I dont want to take a chance on. Ever. We are talking about a 100k business decision here.
This last part gave me pause for thought. Yes, it is reconditioned, and yes, maybe I can get service records. But, do I know if the last driver respected the truck...
I then thought tomyselfbthat a 2016 Cascadia is what I would buy anyways, and with the 1400 SFI kicks into your maint accout on day 1, and the fact that I confirmed I can refi myself at 18 months, I went with my gut and signed a 3yr lease on a 2016. After 18 months of depreciation, and what a new loan would amortize for, I am still ahead of the game with no capital out of pocket.
I also agree with a previous post. I have owned my own businesses since I was 24 years old. Everything from car audio and performance to mortgage aquisitions and finance. Dont do this if you have 0 capital. Anything can happen. Do you need 10k as suggested? Probably not with a brand new truck, but at the least, have a months worth of bills and some kind of plan.
Sorry so long but as I type this, I hope it helps with the thought process of someone else trying to make the same decision.91B20H8, PoleCrusher, gentleroger and 3 others Thank this. -
Oh..one more thing...Horsechoe, they didnt bait and switch, I still could have had that truck, I just didnt want to wait to get it. Im not good with waiting when my mind is set.
drvrtech77 Thanks this. -

Just out of curiosity...what is yhe downpayment for the kw on a 3 yr? Is that the 5k one (2 do, 3 sec dep) ?
-
It's 5k if you're new and as Drifter42 said if you complete a lease you can get into one with 3k down.GeekFink Thanks this.
-
I paid $5k down, $3k is a security deposit which is doubled and returned to me at the end of the lease.
So basically that money will come back to me plus an extra $1000 (as long as I complete my lease and don't screw up).
Plus when you lease on with a new truck Schneider gives you an extra $1400 into your maintenance account.
Yet another reason to go with a new truck lease cause they'll literally paying you to get into a new truck.GeekFink Thanks this.
