Go to cdl school right now; don't wait. Several companies will hire you and also will give you a pre-hire letter if the school requests one. Some schools want a pre-hire letter if the potential student is a felon because they don't want you to graduate and then not be able to find a job. This protects you and protects the schools reputation. Your criminal record is so old, it won't matter to most companies. Submit applications during the first week of school and the more applications the better.
These companies will probably hire you the day you graduate:
Florida Beauty Express - probably make the most money here. One new cdl grad from Miami made a little over $1700.00 in one week; ran Miami to California to New York & back to Miami. That was his cut from a team run.
    Covenant Transport-need hazmat endorsement
    Freymiller
    TransAm
    USA Truck
Vero Logistics - guaranteed $1000.00 weekly minimum pay.
    Carolina Cargo
    Abilene Motor Express

From what i read (im not a felon) but i watched youtubers that said they are felons and work for... Abalene, Western Express, Carolina Cargo, Cr England are some. My opinion you probably are better getting a job in the trades like roofing or something cause these companies will pay you pennies because they know you have little to no options. If you want to make .10 a mile go for it. If i was down and out i rather sell fruit on the highway lol

I would think the opposite and a lot do. Think about it a guy straight out the pokey no roof over his head looking to do some thinking and sort things out. Step 1 get cdl. Step 2 sign on with a company otr that will keep you out. Instant roof and plenty of time to think. Money for food to boot.

Answer questions on job applications accurately and don't volunteer information that isn't asked for.
    Example:
Question : "Have you ever been arrested?"
    Answer : "Yes"
Or, the question is phrased this way:
Question : "Have you been arrested within the last 3 years?"
    Answer : "No"

Both answers are true and correct, based on how the question is phrased.

That's right; cdl school = money, food, apartment on wheels.

That's cool we all have opinions i personally rather not have a felon behind the wheel of a 80,000 pound missle on wheels but that's my opinion. Most felons obviously have poor judgement otherwise they wouldn't have been locked up in the first place. Working on a roof will give them plenty of time to think too while doing manual work and not putting lives in danger.

I know we live in a new world where felons are put up on a pedestal these days so i'm sure i'll catch some fluff on this comment.

I never said I would necessarily hire a felon to drive. I have plenty of drivers willing to come work for me so I most likely wouldn't have to. That being said you can't cast out someone who is trying to better themselves just because they walk by the title of felon. You have to look at it on an individual basis. Who knows what his felon was. Could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

2 possible employees side by side all else equal one had a felon well the one with out the felon probably made better choices in life so he gets the job.

Now we are down to 1 applicant who has a felon and 1 job available. Supply and demand. Mr Felon just got himself a job.

Well its a good thing that the felon did time, probably paid fines, was on probation ext... i mean we wouldn't want his having paid for his crime to get in the way of looking down on them and treating them as lifetime pariahs. I mean thats fun right?
