This is a fresh install I have a general Lee in my jeep Cherokee with a k40 with a custom mount above the taillight self tapped to the body. The radio is powered by the 12v cigarette lighter. My swrs are right around 1.5 and I'm not putting out or receiveing.

Not trying to be smart , but is the coax hooked up on both ends. Sometimes it’s the really simple stuff.

Might try another antenna for starters. Good luck.

If the current antenna was bad it wouldn't have that low of swrs? Right? But I'll try an antenna from my truck.

You would think so. But electronic gadgetry can be fickle. I’m hitting the simple cheap things to check , if the antenna turns out good then it might get costly.

Don't mean to be ... well ... if you have an SWR that you can see on the meter, then you are putting out something.

Most likely you are suffering from an improper ground of the antenna and possibly what is called a Common Current Mode due to it.

Jeeps are notoriously hard. The classic types.
