If you already know everything, REDD, why bother asking people?

 

On my Chaparral flatbed I retreaded my OE Michelin XZE's with a Michelin XZE-SA retread made for spread axles.

The cap has a solid shoulder that's slightly rounded to help it drag across the pavement. I believe they are about $130.00 each with your good casing.

The original XZE's lasted around 200K IIRC...

 

We bought 7 new Wilson hopper bottoms last spring with ST 250s and now at 15-20,000 mi. they are peeling tread in chunks and everything else. Continental says (1) They are a highway tire, (of course a hopper bottom is on dirt and gravel roads too. They are also listed as an Ag tire). (2) We are over inflated, although they say 105 psi they should only have 90 in them, we run 100 which is pretty normal for this application. We also weigh every load with the grain carts and are loaded legal ALWAYS. At this time they will do nothing under warranty. So, not happy with Continental at all. One reason we traded all our hopper bottoms was to get away from doing tires and brakes for a few years again. We traded off 4 year old trailers with better tires than what we've got now. Currently we are contacting Wilson to tell them Continental says they put tires on new trailers that do not fit the application. And, according to Continental it should be up to them to remark the tire psi recommendation for a hopper bottom as Conti is not responsible for anything.

 

I run a spread axle flatbed. I use the Bridgestone R250's. I just changed 4 of them and the ones I took off had 188k miles on them. They are by far the best spread axle tire I have found.
