I believe many are "pre-charged", where after you hook everything up, you open a valve which releases refrigerant into the system.
Ok, I recharge my truck every four or five months. It isn't that hard. 3.99 a can at wally world. 15 at the truck stop.
If I wasn't clear, what I mean is not that you go buy refrigerant and charge it (although that is possible), but that the split *comes* with the refrigerant inside it, but sealed until you install everything and open the valve to let it flow through the rest of the system.
I'm liking the mini split idea. Only a small hole in the floor or the truck that can easily be covered up later is a winner
I just plug mine in. Roof mount is about as complicated as I want to go. Also less to go wrong or trying to figure out whats wrong if its not working. Power cord: Check Generator on: Check Remote for AC: Check AC turned on: Check Desired Temp set: Check Vents aimed toward sleeper: Check Air blowing ice cold: Check Thats all I want to be bothered with. I have neither the time nor the patience for anything beyond that. If it ever stops working I'll idle the truck until I can replace it. Rednecks generally have a bit more ingenuity and patience than I have. They will go to greater lengths to make something work and do it on the cheap. Where I generally just throw money at a problem I do not understand. Hurst
Not on a 379 Peterbilt or a mid roof Columbia. They would be fine. There is no where to mount it on a Columbia condo roof. It just wont work with out expensive modifications. That would pretty much defeat the whole purpose in my opinion. Thats why I have a redneck window unit sticking out of my drivers door.
