George Foreman, one of the great second acts in sports who reclaimed the heavyweight boxing title after coming out of retirement and became a celebrated product pitchman, died Friday at age 76, his family said.

"A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two time heavyweight champion of the world, He was deeply respected - a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name - for his family," the family said, describing Foreman in a post on Instagram.

An intimidating, thunderous puncher who lost his first title to Muhammad Ali in their famous "Rumble in the Jungle" in 1974, "Big George" was a more rotund, jovial figure when he knocked out Michael Moorer for his second crown two decades later.

    End of an era..

Sure you remember as I do watching the fights on television with the limited amount of channels. No pay per view BS or cable tv..make sure the antenna is aimed correctly and you’re good to go. Maybe smack the tv on the side to get the picture to stop rolling, lol

    Those were the days!

And the TVs could double as coffee tables(they were that big)!
Most of them were made by GoldStar or Zenith.
Of course you also had to have “rabbit ears”!!
    IYKYK!lol

Yep, one could throw their back out trying to move one of those console TV’s.

Remote controls..just call one of the kids to change it. Or the wife because women had their place in the relationship.

If you were lucky you didn’t rupture your spleen!lol
Most people with those TVs literally kept them until they broke. And when they did break, they would either replace the vacuum tubes to get the TV working again or more likely, put a smaller TV that worked on top it because was a great TV stand.
(Not to mention too d a m n heavy to get out of the house for trash day!lmao)

I remember the big fight nights with Muhammad Ali would always be on at the local pizza place, ABC Wide World of Sports if I remember correctly.
