Talk about getting the ultimate shaft!!

    Long story bear with me:

My FL112 went down with a bad camshaft so I had the engine rebuilt. Got it all back together and I assume the shop doing the job dropped my radiator cracking the plastic side tank. At that time I decided I wanted a brass and copper radiator so I grabbed the truck paper and started calling. Came across this company and they were very competitive and knocked some money off as I have a few trucks. Ordered on Monday and the price was 695 plus shipping from chicago to tampa fl. It arrived on Thursday night. Took it to the shop on Friday and since I ordered the radiator and not them they put me to the back of the line but it would be done on Saturday. Got a call Saturday morning that the radiator was 8" too tall and would not work.
Monday morning I call Mike at General Radiator. Told him the scenario and he told me that there was no return policy but if I sent the wrong radiator back on my dime they would either give me store credit or send the new radiator. I flipped out. No where on the ad nor their website does it say no returns. In his computer he looked up the vin for my truck and told me there was two listings and he sent the wrong one. Funny thing is I used a hole in the wall local to me shop to fix my broken radiator and he used the same vin to order the correct plastic tank. I told him this would not work for me as I gave him the proper information and if there were two listings he should have had me check the size. I am even more pissed as he is blaming me. I have ordered many things before and never ever have I been treated this way. Now the real kick in the pants. I checked my credit card statement and my bill was for 825 dollars. So they charged me 130 dollars to send it slowest way possible? At that point I lost it. I have called, emailed and faxed them. Everytime they make me leave a message and no one has called me back.

So the synopsis reads like this. Ordered radiator with my vin. Was sent the wrong radiator and in order for me to get something back I have to spend my money to ship the wrong radiator back to the guys that sent it. Then I have to settle for a store credit from the place that couldnt get my first order right. Then I was over charged for the wrong piece that was sent to me and now I can not get a call back!!!

Am I expecting too much here? I have to admit I was a little upset when he told me no refunds and basically youre stuck.

Well thanks for the beware. As I will be getting a radiator later in the year for my project then I will know who not to call. I realize that from Tampa to pa is a long ##### ways away. If I had a chance to travel that way with a load or with a friend to see them in person then I would. I don't think your asking much at all. If you have any local lawyer friends get them involved by sending a letter(wake up call).

Wow!!! I guess sometimes I need to do a little more homework. But when you are broke down you panic and do what seems best. Lesson learned!!

Well I have an update. I sent my cc company a dispute over this and imagine my suprise that good ol general radiator is fighting back. Apparently they expect the consumer to know there is a no return policy for refund just a store credit. But apparently I bought a no return warranty. This company is a HUGE JOKE!!! They didnt even type up their response. He goes on to say that refunds are not permitted and I knew this, yea I did after the fact. No where on any of my cc bills or their bills of lading did it say this. Had I seen it I would have cancelled the purchase immediately. Is this how they do business? Get your money, send the wrong part then make you pay return shipping, although I stuck that on them this time, then offer store credit? Why in the world would someone want something from them after not getting what I tried to buy the first time. They told me they had the right to correct the issue. Sure they did, had it not been a week to get the wrong radiator, a week to send it back, prolly a week to argue then another week to get the right one, hopefully. It has become my goal to let anyone and everyone know what a bunch of crooks I think these guys are. I am just hoping that my cc company does the right thing. How can you hold a customer to a policy you dont advertise, announce or print somewhere? Isnt this some sort of fraud? This is now become about principal and not the money. The cc bill has been paid and I have recouped my money. Now it is about business ethics.

    ^^^^^^^^^Bingo.

miles, you have my sympathy. There are very few honest business's these days. Mr. H is one of the few that comes to mind.
It isnt who is going to do the best job for you, it comes down to who do you want to get screwed by!

I have also been given the run-around by this company. Back in Sept. 2012, I ordered a radiator from them. By February, it was leaking. When I called General, Don sent me some "stop leak" powder. I used it, but it didn't work at all. When I called back to say that I wanted to return the radiator, Don instead sent me more power--it still didn't work. When they finally gave me the go-ahead to send back the radiator, they wanted to charge me for shipping. I balked and they agreed to pay--however, they charged me for my replacement radiator and said they'd credit me once the old one was received.

I have now been tangling with them for weeks to try to get my promised credit. Every time I call they claim that if I leave my number, someone will check into it and get back to me...this never happens! I've spoken to Mike and Jim and all I get is the run-around. They do, however, try to talk me into taking a store credit...no way! I'm never doing business with this shady company again! I have ten trucks and they've really lost a lot of business from me. I'm also spreading the word about their crummy business dealings--steer clear of them!

Yea thats the same bs i was getting. Store credit? Really?? Take that and shove it. I have the dispute from the cc company here in front of me and I am not backing down. I dont know about you but I never signed a paper saying no returns except for store credit.
