I can see this actually happening. Within 24 hours no food or toilet paper in stores. Roads would be clogged with modern disabled cars. By day 3 people would be freaking out and would be showing the worst of themselves. Major urban areas would be the worst hit. Think how bad and fast Portland was hit by the riots.

Definitely get a gun.

 

That kind of cataclysmic event would result in widespread panic and resultant violence.

You ain't walking 30 much less 300 miles when the world around you is burning. Too many people out there would do you harm just because they can, not even because you have something of value they want.

 

Guns would be great if you were already at home, could arm the family and barricade yourself from wandering hoardes.

Alone, on the street, that gun is now something of value that someone else wants from you. And that someone may have an already heavily armed gang backing them up.

To the op, clothes, money and food, maybe drink.

Get those vacuum bags to put clothes in, these are to wear and will be very wrinkled. Socks are the most important thing, ask any vet about why.

Food can be freeze dried, it is perfect as long as the packaging is sealed.

Money can be hidden, you want all denominations and even some coins.

there is a lot more that can be said but keep it as small as possible.

By day 3?

When we had the great black out in the Midwest in 2003, there wasn’t panic other than the gas stations that had power, hence gas. People were fighting and arguing, running into other cars and so on.

We went through a recession that could have been avoided and we had people committing suicide abs states like California offering a large amount of help to those thinking about it.

But our culture has turned into a bunch of whimps and crybabies.

by day 3?

within hours after we lose the Internet and power, when we have a lack of communication by simple am radio because very few have am radio - Maybe xm radio may work but uplink stations may be too far damaged - we will see shear panic.

i expect it to happen fast and without recourse, our experience with covid should be a warning how stupid people can get.

 

Would AM radio even work after a solar flare?. I suppose stations could have backup generators.
