I did that when I was 17 to 19 yrs old .. jumping up and down was rough on the back for sure.. I still remember a co worker who got his hand crushed and was freaking out looking for his finger in the trash . I found his glove and there it was ..it was a interesting job for sure..

The City of Fairview Park,Ohio their service department is actually considered part of the cities first responders crew. Anytime there's a major fire or emergency in any city the service department usually responds right along with the police and fire department. Usually there the one's who have to do a quick fix to the problem.

The next round of Baby Boomers.Itsbrokeagain and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Well everyone despite the shutdown residential trash is high. Tonnage is up.
I was off of work today due to the economy.
Anyhow lots of trash on the street.
Looks like New York City.
But I will say this despite everything else on reduced hours and shut down and “non contact” the garbage department is still very much on full contact and moving very heavy. City of Rocky River has been out there everyday of the work week like they always are there service hasn’t slowed down or stopped at all.
It’s a big machine and it can never stop and it does never stop its pretty much a cost of doing business.Attached Files:

I'll have to get a picture of it next Wednesday, but City of Rocky River, Ohio truck #34 is the big Leach 31 yard capacity truck. The other one's have been 25 yard trucks. Truck #34 looks pretty new to me, the white paint is all shiny and clean and no rust marks on the rims or anything. Although Rocky River keeps there trucks up pretty good, there never dirty yeah they have normal rust and wear and tear marks, but for the most part there trucks always look pretty good. They don't beat the crap out of there rear loaders. They don't use them to load furniture and they don't try to ram rod tree limbs and crap down there, they don't use them to plow snow, I really don't see them using the rear loaders for anything but garbage, recycle, brown bag yard waste and a couple 20 yarders for leaf collection.
Those garbage trucks are expensive $156,000 and up so they try not to beat on them, they probably have I would think a hair over $1million dollars worth of equipment in there garage, they run a really good service and there my favorite to watch. The oldest truck they have the Sterling it's like 2004 they were using it today for yard waste collection which there was a lot of yard waste out by the way. So that's today's garbage report.Last edited: Apr 1, 2020

So I did some talking out on the street today.
That truck there #34 is the big one 32 yard Leach 2R3.
I know the driver of that truck the guy holding the broom I know him and we chatted he said the city is busier then ever running right now at 26 tons of refuse a day that’s just garbage not counting recycling, yard waste and bulk waste.
Right now the city has thrown more of the service department at garbage then normal because everything is through the roof.tommymonza Thanks this. -
This was a surprise out getting some pictures for my collection.
City of Rocky River ejector trailer coming back from the landfill garbage tonnage is up. With everyone stuck at home doing there own cooking and things. -
Southern Italy went on a trash strike for a couple months when we're over there in 2005.
