Sorry too hear about your brother, but with all the thoughts and prayer's , he will get better over time, now myself, i always stop every 4-5 hours and just get out the truck, just go inside the rest area if cold out and walk around, or if nice just walk around the truckstop, then go in and see what i can find thats healthy too eat, lot's driver's also dont like too unload there own trailer's but i told boss , give me all those load's , i dont mind it and my paycheck was fat too , becuse of it, plus i got too bs with the dock workers, course i dont drink or smoke, just work hard , thank's too, being raised up the farm and 4 other brothers and one sisters , the things we did on that farm , helped me with my trucking too, :biggrin_25514:

I'm so glad he's doing better. Also I want to point out that diabetes doesn't discriminate. It doesn't matter how fat or thin you are, I have a friend that is thin and very active, he works out daily. A couple years ago he dropped about 10 pounds in one month without trying. He went in for a check up and sure enough was diagnosed with diabetes and was put on insulin, had to give himself shots 4 times a day. Needless to say his cdl was comprimised, had to get ok'd by the dr every 6 months and turn the ok into the dmv each time. Well he changed his diet dramatically and great news is now 3 years later his body is making insulin again and he is no longer having to inject himself or take any pills. So long story short, it's about our diets, we need to get back to the basics of clean, fresh food.

Injun thank you for your post! I hope your brother is getting better. This post will definitelly make many of us think about taking care of our helath!
I have been quite worried about DVT (Clots on your calfs) since I learned we Truckers are at high risk! I have been talking to some people on this forums and found some solutions they recomend. Of course like you said the first thing to do is to stop, get up and move once in a while!!!
Also, you can use compression socks! These are very cheap! I found some on ebay for about $5. They help prevent your blood from pooling on the bottom of your legs.

There is also a new device we have been talking about with a few people. because of what I have seen I think this could be beneficial for your brother. Having said that I have no personal experience with it so I cannot recomend it to you. But your brother should definitelly look into this with his doctor. Sounds perfect for his case! http://www.ctvnews.ca/health/device-could-help-diabetic-leg-sores-heal-faster-1.850834
It is called Venowave. I have asked Dr. Deliah about it and she is investigating. As soon as I hear from her I will let you know what she says. But in the mean time your brother might want to bring this up with his doctor.

    Best Wishes!
