We already have a usdot# to run the material we own, internet truck stop offers a service to get the MC# and operating authority for 800.00. Should we go through the hassle of doing it on our own? The other option is to let them do it for the first time and do it our self next time.

We are running much longer runs because we can't get trucks under loads fast enough, so now we are going in to "for hire" with our own trucks. Internet truck stop has loads in Texas going back to, or near Houston (where we are located). We cover the the freight both ways so a back haul would be a little extra to help put.

$800 is a little steep. I did my whole deal through Evilsizor for about $400 including the BOC 3. In hind sight I probably could have done it on my own but I was afraid of making a mistake.

I'm from Houston also, what type of equipment are you running? Flats or vans?

There's plenty of "companies" out there that offer the service of obtaining authority for you and filing, of course all with a fee. I've seen some asking $900 and up. $400 doesn't seem so bad, just back sure its a reliable place. Also, in my opinion go with the $400 IF you are nervous about making a filing mistake on your own. Just as a sidenote, I know a few guys of differnt ethnicity other than american, who speak little english who did all the paperwork themselves. Kudos to them but if you speak a heck of a lot more english and can talk to people, you can do it too

If you stay within Texas, you don't need an MC # through FMCSA. Just Intrastate authority from the Texas DMV. Far fewer hoops to jump through.
