you don't have to have mc# to haul in state, that i know of. i'm making the switch myself to intrastate hauling, but if necessary i'll reactivate my authority.

I think brokers want an MC # for (among other reasons) is for the safety ratings of the FMCSA, even if you are hauling instate. I also think that most brokers have no clue regarding instate operating authorities since they are all different, its just easier for them to require you to have an MC number.
Let us know what you find out when you get started. -
i called the next day after i posted this mesg and they didn't give me hassle.i got one question though,if i had my authority previously, but i'm switching to in state only, can i reactivate my authority since i have ins. on file? i may get irp tags, but i don't want to pay the extra cash yet.

I have to agree, 123loadboard.com is winning me over. Getloaded is becoming an ad driven website, half not even related to trucking and the Truckstop.com people are just plain rude.
I've been looking at loadmax.com , anyone use them? -
pete and re-pete.

i stand corrected on the mc#,get ur authority, get a processing agent and dot number. these aren't required to haul intrastate, but the crookers are requiring it.
