hey ya'll its been awhile since i've posted on here, I went to school in Trenton Ohio back in Nov-Dec 08. Did the 5 week training OTR w/trainer. and now am in my own truck for about the last month. So heres the scoop....Take to school what they tell you and only what you can pack into a truck with another person in it. Life is tight with 2 people in a truck, but keep in mind that its only a month or so like that. Millis is pretty liberal about the home time issue. Like one person said its 36 hrs for every seven days out. they don't argue with you. if you want to be home every week, they will do it. But keep in mind, your miles will not be very good because they keep you close come your home time. I'm running 3-4 weeks at a time right now and so far the miles and the pay are pretty good. Don't want to get into details because i might hurt other drivers feelings, but trust me no complaints here as far as keeping busy. As far as "cut backs" spanky is right, they have turned the trucks down to 62-66 mph. That sucks trust me but I get miles to make up for it. For those who have never stepped foot into a big truck before let me leave you with my free 2 cents advice......from one rookie to another, BE CAREFUL!! don't rush anything, and there are always ups and downs in this career. Not every week is gonna be a bank breaker. Keep your head up and push to the next week! Best of luck to all of you and I'll catch up to ya down the road. To all of you going to the Trenton Oh. class.....Your instructor Bill S is top notch! Your gonna have a blast.

Getting to st louis should not be a problem as we have a couple of beer distributers around there we deliver to. We also have a couple of places around there that we pick up. As far as sitting on the road yes i have generaling sitting about one day a week waiting for a load. As far as miles go i am still averaging around 2200 to 2800 miles a week.

thanks spanky and sketch.. I expect the freieght will pick up some in april as it usually does from what I've heard. I have been contemplating this switch for the last 5 years. but this time I have decided to go for it. If it doesnt work out after a year or two I can always come back to bending nails. Again I say thanks for the info. And hopefully we will meet out on the road in person somewhere.
