Home every three weeks. But sometimes longer just cause the pay so low I have too. My girlfriend lives in greensboro. So I have been considering epes. I used to work down the road from them in oak ridge. An ex girlfriend of mine has a family member that works for them and from what I have heard he likes it there. Home every week would be nice considering what I have going for me now. Been talking to mabes trucking out of Eden too.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy otr. But I also have to small kids. Gets pretty heart breaking when I hear them say when you coming home again daddy.

OTR is for rookies. LTL wont be a 9-5 job with no challenges. Your skills will be put to the test hourly. Give city work a try. It'll provide a good paycheck and family life. Linehaul is for the overweight drivers.

1000-1100 would be ideal. I have to pay child support and keep insurance on my kids. So that takes a good chunk.

Yeah it's not worth being Otr anymore. I've been with my LTL Company for 1 1/2 yrs. Started at .40 now at .47 cpm, grossing 1350 a week now. Before new HOS i could gross 1600 a week but working 7 days home every other day. I run linehaul so it's nights but I have a set schedule and time off. On the road 3 nights my long week and 2 nights on my short. 550 miles a layover. Really easy vs city driver. I work for a lower paying LTL company as well and require only one year exp. So getting a linehaul gig that pays way better then otr isn't hard. Just got to be able to drive nights. If you can do that then you can do line.

I was burned out on otr. I found a local job. It lasted 1 month, and I'm now back otr. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Sometimes it's dead.

Well, when I first became a driver I was all about Otr didn't care to be home. Did it for 5 yrs, every spring it would wear on me the most cause the weather got nice and things to do at home. Finally, one spring I said screw it jumped into foodservice then now LTL. Been 2.5 yrs since, don't think I'm ever gonna look back. I'll go back to foodservice before I go Otr. Rather lump and ramp 4 days a week then go back otr for the wages and lifestyle of otr. Only way I'd do Otr if Walmart knocks on the door but those guys are home every other day or weekly and getting paid. Otr is last, last, resort for me. I'm glad it's there but don't think ill use it.
