The guy next door to me said it like the public beleves ........ "I dont care what the law is you radio must go "
Biggest dummies are Home Owner's Associations apparently or Neighborhood associations- what ever they are. Was involved a long time ago in the legal defense of a home owner, wwII vet, and ham when his HA sued him over his backyard antenna array. Ended up taking down the array and putting up flagpoles in the front- flag poles with tuning coils.
Yeah that makes sense. A lot of those phones are nothing more than some cheap plastic and circuit boards held together with a prayer. Even Uniden has some very very cheap models I've noticed. Which 6m rig are you using? I have a Icom 706mkII but it is in storage at the moment. Thinking about grabbing my orginal 706 from my bro now that I have the TM-D710A( covering aprs-vhf and uhf fm stuff) up and running. He was only using it as a SW receiver. Mark
The reason the states will LOSE on this issue everytime is because CB and Amateur + commercial, etc. are licensed and regulated by FCC in the US. States have NO authority to regulate such services due this fact. AND all these services have a long history of SAFE operation in mobile modes--mikes and all. Only with the advent of the CELLPHONE did this thing about "distracted driving" come about. With Amateur Radio, there is LONG standing precedent AND encouragement from FCC for the use of MOBILE radio for a myriad of reasons including emergency services. States CANNOT abrogate, annull, alter, or restrict US law in the use of such devices. OH, they may THINK they have "authority", but they quickly find out that they do not! According to the LEGAL and functional differences of the two devices (two way radio vs cellphone), they ARE two entirely different animals. And there's that pesky FEDERAL law in the way of the states! It is also why so many state laws have been amended or changed to reflect this! Oh boo hoo!! DRAT!!! I'm the STATE and I can't stop them ham radios like I THOT I could!!! Some localities have gone so far as to pass ordinances saying that Amateurs could not transmit, use, even OWN ham radios within their city limits. Only to find out that a local ham hauled their fat ##### into court and made 'em change it!!!! FUNNY! Anytime some pop-bellied donut swillin' cop writes U up for 'havin' that 'ere reddio (unless its a scanner) HAUL HIS FAT ##### into FEDERAL court! You'll WIN!!!! If he confiscates your two-way radio, make 'em return it or buy you a new one! Make FOOLS out of them in court, make 'em look as stupid as they really are!!!! They CAN regulate your cellphone because it is a subscriber service that carries no license. They CANNOT **** with your CB or ham radio no matter what the turd cop says!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone needs to hand New York's *** back to 'em on a PLATTER! GF
I meant my brother is using the 706 I have as an SW receiver. I own both the original 706 and the 706mkIIg which added 70cm to bundle and a few other bells and whistles. Didn't mean to be confusing. Nice pic btw and lucky you- everything I do is mobile and out of a company truck. Lots of limitations! Mark
