I personally have both a Cobra and a Uniden mini cb radios. Each was about $79 at the truck stops. I carry them in the trunk of my car as a spare to my Cobra 25. I would not recommend one of those "stick onto a window" cb antenna, they are crap.

if its a cost issue id go for one of them compact cobra 19's there a cheap no frills radio but they do work decent. i normally have a couple of them kicking around. i even have a couple riged up with a cigarette lighter plug and a mag mount antntina as loaners i use every now and then for auto's for when you have a car chasing you or long trips with multiple vehicles for fishing trips ect. in my semi i am currently running a cobra 18 wx stII its not a super funtion packed radio but works good has weather band, and the sound tracker feature does help in some situations. i bought it for the front facing speaker. i want to say it was around $75
i think my favorite radio i have run yet was a cobra 50th anniversary, second favorite would be the good ole cobra 29 both if my memory serves run in the 125-150 rangetexasbbqbest and "semi" retired Thank this. -
I used to get CB channels over my tv when someone with a big kicker parked nearby would talk.
texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
A Cobra 29 and a decent antenna will last a long time and do a good job right out of the box. About the best route to go for getting started.
