All states are not the same. Here we have to go to the drivers license office first. Then to the rest. When I lived in Tx I took the test first, then did the fingerprinting. But that may not be the case now. Best to call or check the website for your states DMV to find out.

In order to get passenger endorsement you need to do a pretrip and road test in an appropriate vehicle. It is not just a written test.

In TX I set the appt. online. Took tanker/hazmat and 9 days later had my lisence.

You have to get the TSA application in, you do not have to take it with you to take the test (at least not in CA), but the DMV will not put the Hasmat thru till they get the TSA back ground from you, So theres no reason the mess with the DMV till you get the TSA done.Trucker61016 Thanks this.

Here in CA, got got my Pass endorsement, but for school buses you have to do the CHP test in a school bus. I have Tanker, Hazmat, Passenger, doubles/triples, and only drove a 18 wheeler for the test, that was back in the 80's though.Dennixx Thanks this.

I already did my DMV is setup for the TSA background and fingerprint processing.....they said I'd get a letter with my approval in a few weeks, and to bring it with me and take my test at DMV as well..i was just wondering how to schedule the appointment specifically for Hazmat Testing at the DMV ??

If you are in Virginia, follow this link to schedule an appointment. (I am not in Virginia. When I had to take the hazmat test a few months ago, my state had online appointment scheduling. They also had walk-in hours for CDL. Show up between 0800 and 0830 any day and they worked you in. Maybe Virginia has something similar. Good luck.)
