Andrew, I'm sorry to hear whats going on. It sucks. Thankfully in NYC it isnt too bad. I'm getting at least 35 hrs. One week my paycheck was 1000 before taxes. here, they give me at most two deliveries or so, but i will spend 6 hrs between them + drive time and doing PTI and post trip paperwork.. I've just been keeping a low profile and doing even the ####tiest things. I've been getting hrs at night, because i dont mind doing dockwork which alot of drivers dislike. Ive signed up for Saturday work as well as usually I sit out one day a week.
The turnover here is pretty high too, one guy just quit linehaul as there are only about 6 runs a night, with nine guys so he'll work at most 2 nights a week.

We have like 30+ P/D drivers. One guy said he did flex for 1.5 yrs, but he's got a bid run now.

The overtime thing is pretty true too, but i manage to sneak a hr or two a week. But theyre always asking what time I came in, so right around 8 hrs they tell me im done. But they dont tell you to come back if you're out. Im sure that has to do with your SCM and trying to look good

I feel your pain brother. Are there any other decent LTL outfits in that area?

    ACH1130 Thanks this.

sorry to hear whats going on. Maybe if you learned to spell out some of your words people might talk to you like an adult and not a 16 year old punk with limited vocabulary

    just my opinion...

i did what you do too, more as an apprentice tho. Im glad your terminal is going good for you tho, possibly urs they treat everyone good. And yes the SCM has a lot to do about it. Mine opened my terminal years ago when it opened, the transferred to a diff one, which is a lot smaller. That terminal shut down and he went back to mine, a lot of ther veterans there were very unhappy about that from what ive heard. I usually got about 2-5 stops a day but all bulk stops though so i would be out for a while. One day i had 11 stops, but were all like next to eachother plus in a area i was familar with.

for our linehaul we have 8 runs a night usually. I wasnt crazy about linehaul so i knew i would never work that, during my training week i was always shot. They usually do the same thing on the 8 hours with me too, which i dont care. Bridgeport terminal used to turn u around once u hit ur 7th hour in tho. Sometimes the outbound manager would force me to stay jus cuz he doesnt want certain ppl working his dock cuz he wants to look good.

I looked into NEMF and old dominion, neither hiring tho. im glad i didnt get into UPSF cuz my friend whos working there now is doing a 230am start and only working dock. He dont mind that cuz he was a full time dock worker for roadway express for 19 years, and plus hes gettin full days and overtime. I could work for YRC since their terminal is 20 min away from me but im worried about them shutting down tho, also y i havent tried for new penn either. I thought about doing like construction or like tank driving, or even garbage disposal. Also thought about doing the UPS temp tractor trailer driver for the season jus to keep my exp up.

People having been saying YRC is going belly up for years man, and theyre still hanging on. They have a huge terminal where I'm at so I see their trucks alot. But if you can get into UPS, do it man.

in the ltl business, low man will always sit at home. that is how seniority works. no matter what company you go to, it will be that way.

i have been with conway for 1.5 yrs. and i do good in the busy season, and not so good in the slow season.

i have a 12 pm start time today, and i have 3 guys under me that will start around 2 or 3, some will not start at all.

    just sayin'
