I was out of truck'n for 18 months and had no problem getting on with a small company. After I passed the drug test they threw me the keys to the truck with not even a road test! I found em' on craig's list.

    Rooster903 Thanks this.

I think the benchmark is having experience within the last three years. Anything older than three years and it's like you've never driven before.

I was out for 20 years. It took 6 months but fiound a job with a small company. Been back on the road for 3 yrs now. I didn't forget how to drive & for sure wasn't going with a trainer again for 6 weeks. Good luck.

If you think it's bad having been "out of the industry" for several years and not being able to find work, you ain't seen the end of crazy yet. Work local for a time. I've done the whole OTR thing before, and have been at my current "local" job for over 8 years. If I were to start calling around looking to go back OTR, I'd be hitting the exact same road blocks...even though I've been behind the wheel of a T/T running around 500 miles per day (some days more, some days less), 5-6 days per week. None of that matters, because I slept in my own bed at night.

Schneider us a 3 week course one week otr training mostly classroom. I suggest them. Plus soon log books will be fazed out each company has a different qaul comm people net policy. I wont go back to schneider because that 75% drop hook bs every load I had was 2-9 hour live unload except three of them.

Thats another good Idea, but as John Wayne said "a man has to know his limitations" and jumping into something like this after my hiatus may get me in trouble.
