@Usmc1991 I'm assuming you from Texas if so which city, if you live in a big city there's other companies out there who reward its drivers what they deserve and get on with them. Not knocking saia down as I have heard good things from them. As my trainer said once expand your horizons and choose a company you want to stay in for the long term.Have you ever thought about running tankers in the city. I have spoken to other tankers and they seem to be happy and it's a bit more consistent hauling gas than crude oil. Anyways good luck on your search and hope you find the right niche for you.

Thanks for the reply, I am from Texas. From Wichita Falls actually. Unfortunately we are not too big. About 100,000 people. We do have other LTL carriers in town but Saia are the only ones hiring currently besides ABF for part time. I'd like to go to work for ABF since they are union but I just can't afford to work part time. As far as I can tell we only have one local gas tanker outfit but they want two years experience so they wouldn't take me, though I did send them an application just in case they would.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

I just talked to the people at the 1800 number. They told me the terminal in Wichita Falls is a dark terminal so nobody is there during the day. Any advice on what I should do?
-
I'll say maybe go early in the morning to the terminal or maybe catch one of the local drivers and ask them who's the poc. I know these are silly suggestions but it can work.
-
Unfortunately I'm away from home most of the time with my current job. But occasionally I run into drivers from the terminal in my hometown at the Loves on my dedicated route so I will definitely be keeping an eye out!Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

Wow, thats a small terminal.. It looks like they're open 0500-1000, and again at 1800-2000. If I had to guess, considering they don't have any staff on site during the day, I'd say that you're hiring process would go through Dallas. Still try to get a hold of wichita falls though. If you can't get a hold of anybody there after a few days, try getting a hold of the Dallas terminal manager.

Okay thanks again for your help. I will try tomorrow morning when there is someone there. Any idea what to tell the people at the 1800 number to get the actual extensions for the terminals? It seems they don't want to give out the numbers or connect me unless I have talked to someone already or know the name of who I'm trying to talk to. I may have had to fib a bit and tell them I had because if you mention that you're just following up on an application they pretty much shut down and tell you to email HR, which does no good.

They require a spotless record. Nothing within 3yrs tickets and accidents. I've read it on Truckingboards.com. I've got a lot of linehaul exp and when I was thinking about leaving my company awhile ago I applied and no call back. At the time I had two speeding tickets in my pov that were reduced down(had a bad month). Then I researched cause I know nobody from Saia and found that out. Need a spotless Mvr and CSA for them. I did turn down a job with them when I had a clean record 6 years ago. Went through the interview and they wanted me but I choose US Foods over them. Don't think the TM was happy about that. Oh well I'm good where I'm at.
