They hire in Florida and one of their trainers lives in Lake Wales.
    I'd go with CFI then.

So would you say it's a standard practice to have to go through the schooling at full price even with my cdl in hand?

That's standard practice for most companies. They factor in several things before deciding if one needs more extensive training or not.
Western Express might hire you for pulling dry van. www.drivewithwestern.com
"We’ve pioneered the industry’s first “REFRESHER” program for drivers with NO RECENT EXPERIENCE, including drivers who have a CDL but didn’t attend truck driving school. Most trucking companies require you have recent driving experience regardless of how much driving history you have. If you don’t, they make you go back to school, which costs you time and money. But at Western Express, we recognize your past driving experience, or your past CDL A school training, and provide you the on-the-job PAID TRAINING you need to get on the road fast."

Good company? I'll google them to see what I can find for myself as well. I appreciate all your time and help from what I've seen online cfi seems like a decent company to start with.

Doubt you'll find any negative posts about CFI.
As for Western Express; they get good and bad press. This company gives some drivers a second chance in trucking and in life, then after the drivers gets what he wants, that no other company would give him, he starts griping and whining.

That would be a very useful development for FFE. They needed a yard there forever. In our time Atlanta North was that Base for all florida. It's quite a haul in those days.
