It gets easier the more you do it. You'll be relaxed and it'll be like driving your car. Don't be so complacent you forget the dangers but relax. You'll be be just fine.

I have been driving for 38yrs I still get nervous taking a road test. driving a truck is like riding a motor cycle if you think you have full control thats when something is going to happen. being a little nervous means you are paying attention. dont let things that arent going wrong bother you. worry about them latter or that will distract you from what you are doing. good luck

Thank you so much for sharing that downshift pattern with us I like that and I think it's going to help me when I got off to trucking school.

Being a little nervous can be a good thing. When I am a little nervous or as I like to say cautious I notice my senses are heightened and I am more aware of my surroundings which is a good thing. When I started driving 17 years ago my trainer who was also my best friend gave me some great advice. He said " dont ever loose respect for or take for granted what you are doing because then you will get in trouble" Those words have helped keep me safe for 17 years.

Thanks for all the replies. This was a good week. Still getting nervous, but my downshifting is much improved. Thanks for the advice. Did really on my backing today. Still have the tendency to oversteer now and then. Overall, I am feeling much more confident.

On a side note, got flashed by a carload of college girls this afternoon. Good times.

Oversteer? Are you kidding me? I have been doing this for a long time and I still have days that I cant back in a spot if I had a 50 acre field to maneuver in.:biggrin_25523: Seriously, I think you have the proper attitude to do well. Good luck
