The first 3 months were bad. Missing the kids, wondering how big they will be when I get home. The worst for me was when the wife was taking me to the truck. After tears fell from my eyes, I wiped them off and went to work. Composed myself with in 5 miles down the road. My dad was an otr for 45 plus yrs so I know what the lifestyle is like.

Going home a couple of being home I listens to Home Sweet Home... Its makes te last 200 miles go by faster

I enjoy my own company most the time, don't really play well with others anyway.

After 15 years the first couple days stink, then I think why I am doing this, the things my family enjoy because of the sacrifices that the whole family makes. I get into my work, booking loads and staying busy.

That's why it isn't such a good career if you have family. Its very hard to overcome the fact of being gone from home for such long periods of time. You can get used to being on the road but no matter what you still have that longing for home. Its why most drivers don't make it past the first 3 or 4 months out there.

The absolute best situation is if you can get your spouse to do it with you. When my wife and I drove team I could have cared less about going home! I really enjoyed being on the road when I had my wife and dog with me. Not to mention the money is incredible!

I got over it in a couple months.

Have more than enough gadgets in the truck to occupy my downtime.
Plus i don't have the issue of sending money home so I'm out and about the town on resets.

Might go home for dentist/ doc appt, or if my dad and i wanna catch a sporting event.
