I would think if you have to ask you may be in trouble.
I do not mean to be mean but reading Hawk-eye post about crying getting into the truck is darn funny!

I see you are still listed as a student. Come re read what you said the first time you miss something important in a loved one's life.

I don't have kids, but I hate leaving my wife to fend for herself. I'm sure it broke my dad's heart every time he left my mom and us alone.

I'm also quite certain he probably wasn't thinking about how much he loved being on the road while he was dying in a truck stop parking lot either.

As for the op's question, it gets easier over time. I call a couple times a day and we Skype here and there. I often joke that after two days on the road my wife used to ask when I was coming home. Now after two minutes at home she asks when I'm going back to work.

Mike I run Canada/USA as I'm based out of Toronto. I always feel comfortable riding around our land and words like yours remind me that there are still some decent folk out here yet.

I'm an Army brat. What is the meaning of this word "homesick"? It must be a civilian word that I'm not familiar with.

I'm always home, both the red & yellow buttons are pulled out. I'm out on the porch though, grilling a steak. Dog gets some, I get some. Grow Sprouts in the side box. Not bad when covered in cheese & bacon on a baked potato. Steak is much cheaper out west. Texas has some. Idaho has potato's. Not a hard way of life. Or if your lazy, eat in truck stops.

The time that I have spent with my loved ones while on home-time has been a lot more precious. But after a couple of days, I find I am ready to get back on the road. Then, I like being alone. And it helps that my man is a driver, too- which means he understands what I am going through out there and is sympathetic to the demands of a trucker's life. That helps.
