Why would I muddy up my corporate finances every time I fuel, and I typically get .30 per gallon discount with my card. Right now it's .50-.70 discount depending on the location. I also don't get paid, I get a settlement. If I choose to direct deposit some of those funds, all it takes is a phone call and punching a few keys. As a company driver, I can see the reluctance to mix work and personal, but that isn't the case for the OP.
getting paid on my comdata card? hows this work?

Now a days I don't understand why there are companies out there that don't have direct deposit.
As as far as fueling as an O/O company I lease onto takes my fuel directly from my settlement and using their network saves me anywhere from $.20-.50 at the pump so need need to use a credit card -

Comdata will charge you a fee to access your own money. You won't be happy.

Com-Data has evolved over the years. originally it was just a way to get $$$ to the drivers for road expenses. The last time I used them was in '04 and they were really "21st century" so to speak. A little card that does just about anything, including getting cash from an ATM. But there are fees. Also, any $$$ in your Com-data account is still accessible to your truck co. So, I wouldn't have too much cash sitting there. Com-Data is a full fledged bank FYI. To pay a driver with direct deposit, the money MUST be in the truck co's bank account. A slang term is "hard money". But with Com-data, they can juggle funds for a day or so and still make payroll and keep everyone happy. When your co loads your card, it's "hard money" ready immediately for your use, including writing a com-check at your bank. Once they call the 800 # and get the auth # it's good as gold.
flc120 Thanks this. -

When I was paid through Comdata I was stil an O/O. I actually had 2 Comdata cards. I was my fuel card where all of my advance money went. I'd use it for fuel and possibly other truck related expenses. The other card was my payroll card. When I started with the company I signed up for direct deposit from the Comdata card to my bank account. Simple as that. Your company should explain all of this at your orientation.

It's $1 per transfer for me. That's not bad
