Use to get pulled over when I deserved it. Not anymore, now I just wave at LEO's & keep on roll'n. Makes the day go by mo'better.
I have never been pulled over. Ever in a truck or 4 wheeler.. And police won't pull you over unless you are speeding or breaking some laws so they have no reason to.. DOT on the other hand.. They try to find lil things and everything to pull you over for but you keep your equipment looking nice and they won't mess with you.
If you have an old rusty beat up truck with fading brake lights chances are you will get pulled over since something may be wrong. I only got a random inspection once and everything was perfect.
Soo what about my random inspections? How can u say THEY wont, when they actually do, just because u have never.... my story every time I'm driving they catch up, fallow me get next to me then they back off get behind me and light me up. NOT doing anything wrong
I'm willing to take a bet you drive for a carrier that has a high CSA score. Or your truck and/or trailer looks like it went through a meat grinder.
Most states keep their coops open 24/7. The few scales that NV has, are usually closed. NV DOT spends most of their time doing these "random checks." And that is exactly what they are. They randomly stop commercial trucks for inspection. It's the same thing other states do, just done in a different way. Nevada's prime industry, (other than gambling/tourism of course,) is mining. What are quite often the most illegal trucks on the road? Aggregate haulers. Rather than setting up scales where a small percentage of the trucks go through, they do the random checks, and they do them all over the state. Believe me, they do not confine themselves to I-15 and I-80, they are everywhere. And this includes off of state highways, in municipalities and on county roads. They are looking for violations where ever they can find them. Don't feel that YOU have been singled out, because you probably have not.
I'm willing to bet my truck and trailer are always cleaner then yours, so so thats not the case or the CSA. But elko is where they train troopers/rookies so they try to catch company's hauling illegal stuff..
I hit 3 scales from CA, TO Denver and 4 coming back usually Utah and Truckee pull me in every now and then. But I've had more road side inspections then being pulled in to scales
