how often do you get home when out with the trainer, how much do you drive?

Do they give a recent grad a nice truck or is it beat up

How many miles will schneider give me or let me run

Do they pay attention to qualcomm or will they let the driver run if they want

Is schnieder a good company to start with or is there one better????

If you go dedicated, how often are you home? Furthermore, do they run internationals for the dedicaded runs or is that truck specificly for bulk driving?

On my particular account, Im home nightly and have two days off a week. Other accounts have you home a couple nights a week...just depends on what dedicated account you are on. I have the same stops so everything is the same as far as my situation...yours may differ.

I don't know much about the intermodals, to be honest. Im assuming that they arent on dedicated accounts...as that just makes sense to me. What I mean is that....dedicated is more time sensitive...my stuff has an order cut off time of x hours before the truck leaves the dock. For the most part, nobody knows what is going on my truck until that day when they get the orders. Intermodal is less time sensitive as it travels by train.

I didnt understand what you meant abotu the truck being for bulk driving.

I know SNI runs Freightliners for all types of trucking. My question is: Is there an option besides the freightliner? Also, when you sleep, do you shut the engine off?

...Since SNI uses Freightliners for all their trucks, that is all they use as far as I know. Right now, they are using the Century S/T. They do have sleepers and day cabs, depending on what you are doing. I trained in a sleeper cab and my trainer was 100% positive I was going to be driving a day cab with a pup trailer. Instead, Im driving a sleeper cab with a 48ft trailer.

I did see a orange Cascadia the other day with the Schneider logo, but Im positive that was a owner op or a lease op truck instead of a company truck.

It all depends on what you are doing. They even have some old cabovers they use in certain areas. Also....most of the sleepers have the condo style roofs, but from what I have seen, the tanker trucks have a low or mid roof.

When I sleep...Im at home in bed, lol. I was given a sleeper cab in the off chance I get stuck in the bad weather up here in the boonies. So far, I have slept in it once when the interstate was closed. I just turned on the webasto heater and that kept me toasty all night long. From what I have heard recently, not all of the trucks have webastos either...I thought they all did.

I hope they get the new Cascadias as they are cool and better than the Century class s/t. I can only hope they get new ones as they would make a great addition to the existing fleet.

What is anther option besides going OTR for SNI? I just want to gain experience and maybe then proceed to OTR.

Well think of it like this...
ok well I can think of a sarcastic example, lol. But the Century is a cheap truck. That is why almost everyone and their friggen dog has them for fleet trucks. The Cascadia is more of a top of the line truck from what I have seen and it costs more. Sure, it would be nice...but will it be a fleet truck at a high cost? Nah...unless they take all the bells and whistles out of it...then you just pretty much have a different looking century. The Volvos are nice and lots of people want to work at Swift because of the Volvos...but they don't realize they get the crap version of the volvos.

Well hmmm. Im not too sure all the opportunities out there. but here is what i know:
*Dedicated - this could be somethign where you are home nightly, or are out for a week or so at a time...depends on the account.
*OTR - out for weeks at a time, home for a couple days.
*Teams - same as OTR, slightly higher pay, and you get to put up with someone as well and live with them in a box that makes a dorm room seem spacious.
*Bulk - dont know much about this.
*tanker - same here...but I think they only run out of TX anyways.
*Utility - this means...gopher...gopher this, gopher that. I think with this, youd work at a dedicated account cross dock and bring trailers back and forth and then youd learn and fill in for other routes as needed.
