18wheels you do need a permit to carry a gun. A person can get a Federal CC. I don't know what the process is, but it would allow you to carry across state lines. Also many companies don't want to carry. My guess is its for liability reasons,

In fact, I've never felt like I was in a really bad situation. If I just avoid the known bad areas, don't park in the darkest, most remote areas, I don't think there's much to be concerned about. Of course, anything can happen . . .
On a side note, since the economy has been really bad, I notice fewer prostitutes and drug dealers hanging around the truckstops, so there's probably less muggers, also. BUT, seems like I hear about more professional truckload thieves stealing trucks and/or loaded trailers!YungTrucker Thanks this. -
Me big ugly twuck dwiver. Me carry BIG stick. Wanna play, doirtbag?
YungTrucker and allniter Thank this. -
Wrong! Gun laws are per state. Do a forum search. There are NO federal laws prohibiting firearms in commercial vehicles. There is also no federal CC, those are distributed by the states also. I have a CFP and carry on my person everywhere. As for the states that don't accept my permit, I don't go to them.YungTrucker Thanks this.

Everybody talks tough here, like on the CB, but truth is that you don't know what you're going to do in such a situation. Some of you will come back and say exactly what you did.
But the circumstances involving a robbery can vary greatly. The poll fails to mention whether the robber is armed which obviously will greatly affect how you respond. A robber armed with just a knife is no problem for some who are trained for such a situation. A robber with a gun can be unpredictable. If the thief is not wearing a mask, you can more easily read facial expressions, fear, apprehension, etc., if you decide to try to call his bluff. If it's a small gauge pistol, you might take your chances on getting shot and wrestling the gun away.
There are too many variables that could be different, in any given robbery scenario, for me to answer the poll. However, if someone has the drop on me, is wearing a mask, and gives careful, slow instructions about what each of my hands is to be doing as the robbery transaction takes place, losing $50-$100 is nothing to me compared with the other possibilities.Saddle Tramp, Blue Screen, 1nonly and 8 others Thank this. -
I would agree... as frustrating as it may be. Sometimes not resisting is the best thing. I'd rather lose a 100 dollars than my life.

I agree if I think I would just give them any cash I have on me then call the cops. I don't ever carry more than $50.00 on me anyway and I think my life is alot more important than that.
YungTrucker and teddy_bear6506 Thank this. -
some things are just not right and no guns in the truck is one of them. we sleep in places that no one should sleep in we drive thru areas the cops wont go and most do it with valuables and by ourselves. in 90 mine was found ny a chp and he laughed says I didn't see that and suggest I buy a bigger one. so you tell me whats right about that law.

There is no such thing as a Federal CC, there are also no DOT regulation that say you can't carry a firearm. In most states you can carry if the firearm is locked up and unloaded and the amunition is stored seperatly. For more info on carring a firearm go to the NRA or the Gun Owners of America web site, both have all of the information you need. Regaurdless I'd rather be tried by 12 then carried by 6.dollylama, livinlife, Hubcap and 1 other person Thank this.
